ABOUT THE ARTIST

I began my studies in the UK where I was born and raised. I have lived most of my adult life in Canada and completed a BFA at the University of Regina Saskatchewan in 1986 and an M. Ed ( based on Arts Education) in 1996.  In 2001, I spent a semester studying traditional painting and drawing in Italy and Greece with the Aegean Center for Fine Arts. In 2012 I moved to the British Columbian island of Gabriola where I am involved with the local arts community and continue in my art practice.

Exhibitions and Galleries

I have exhibited primarily in Canada in solo and group exhibitions both in public and commercial galleries. My work has been shown in the United States and is part of private collections in Canada and the UK. Work in public collections includes the Saskatchewan Arts Board, the Canada Council Art Bank, Universities of Saskatchewan and Regina, City of Regina, Hospital Art Foundation of Regina, Sony Music  and that of H.R.H. Prince Edward.

Subject Matter and Style

I describe myself as a 'narrative artist" working from imagination, memory  and observation. I paint mostly in oils and occasionally in egg tempera and watercolour. I work in a variety of media with drawing, including a method of mixed media paper collage, using wheat paste painting drawing and text. My work is often autobiographical, whether telling stories or assembling familiar or curious still life objects that reflect history and place.
