Christmas Craft Fair at Gabriola Island Elementary School on December 2
I rarely participate in seasonal arts and craft fairs, but this year I thought I would rent a table and join in the fun. The event takes place on DECEMBER 2 between 10 a.m and 3 p.m. The fair is a major Christmas event on the island and is visited by at least 700 people. As well as featuring a variety of crafts, art and artisan products, it is a big fund raiser by the parent organization and helps our island children with extra curricular outings etc. The parent organization always have tasty treats and a very popular array of cookies for sale.
I will be sharing a table with Nancy Laird, a local nutritionist who amongst many related activities teaches cooking and food preparation workshops at "The Commons" an island community centre, using local ingredients. She is sure to have some interesting products for sale and for tasting.
I will be selling Christmas cards and some recent small paintings. The cards are from original paintings from my Ackender Road Childhood memoir Series. This year I have five images to choose from.
If you are not familiar with this series, see many on my website. The series is based on life in a small UK town in the early 1950's from a child's point of view.
Why not plan a visit to Gabriola for a day's shopping , or if you are an islander, and plan to attend the Fair, please stop and say hello and maybe buy a card or two.
