Gabriola Studio Tour 2019
My studio “Maison Bleue is # 65 on the Gabriola Thanksgiving Tour. The tour is a three day event with up to 80 artists taking part. There is a wide range of artists, craftspersons , designers and more who all live and work on the BC Gulf island of Gabriola . There are brochures with maps and information of all kinds available from the Gabriola Arts Council https://artsgabriola.ca . Their website includes lots of information about the event and participating artists.
It is a big Thanksgiving tradition here to travel around and see what artists are doing, and a good way to get to see all parts of the island. Artists work very hard to display their work and make studios inviting places. Many studios are located in beautiful settings. The hours for the tour are: 10.00 a.m to 5.00 p.m including Saturday, Sunday and Monday. There are a few restaurants on the island and most studios provide snacks. At Maison Bleue there will be home baking and some hot ginger tea.
You may want to head to Folk life Village first to check out the temporary exhibition “ Gallery Central” where each artist will have a piece of work to represent them. It is a good way to select what galleries you want to visit. The show opens on Thursday October 10 2019 ( reception at 6.30 p.m) . and will be open through the weekend
